The Peguis First Nation Chief and Council, in partnership with Public Safety Canada, are working together to develop a Peguis Community Safety Plan. This Plan seeks to be a holistic approach to community safety and will include the things that make us feel safe.
We want to explore safety in our homes, schools, at events, and at gatherings, Safety includes making sure we feel safe and comfortable when we are out on our roads, at playgrounds, in public places and spaces, and in our own yards. Community Safety includes making sure people in distress have access to the services they need when they need them, and the people who love them have the support and care they need too.
- · Working with a facilitator, paid for by Public Safety, who will guide the process.
- · Engaging community members to ensure we are getting a full and true picture of community safety issues and solutions.
- · Setting goals based on community feedback.
- · Developing a holistic Community Safety Plan that encompasses all sectors – Youth, Elders, and Community members, as well as a plan for implementation.
This survey is one of the first steps we are taking to hear how you are feeling about community safety in Peguis. Your name is not attached to the survey so please share your thoughts freely.
Updates on progress for this plan will be shared.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey and be part of the community safety planning process.

Victoria Sinclair’s story is a powerful example of resilience, determination, and the courage to create a better future. After making the decision to turn her life around and embrace sobriety, Victoria focused her energy on becoming self-sufficient and building something meaningful for herself, her family, and her community.
With support from the Peguis Surrender Claim Trust toward her vision for Chick’s Lawncare and Hauling, Victoria was able to invest in the equipment needed to grow her business.
Since starting her business in August 2026, she has already built an impressive client base and has a growing list of customers lined up for the Summer 2027 season. Victoria’s journey is about much more than starting a lawn care business—it represents a new chapter built on sobriety, hard work, independence, and hope.
We are incredibly proud to have supported Victoria’s vision and even prouder to see what she has accomplished. Her success is a reminder that with determination, support, and belief in yourself, it is possible to change the direction of your life and build a future you can be proud of.
Congratulations, Victoria—we look forward to watching Chick’s Lawn Care and Hauling continue to grow!
